Your role:

– provide and coordinate legal advice and support, including external counsel where required, for all kind of regional and global projects involving the processing of client and employee data.

– be responsible for UBS' policies relating to data protection and for defining the bank's rules for the processing of client and employee data.

– assess the impact on the bank of new DMP related legislation and play a leading role in ensuring that all necessary actions have been taken by the bank in good time to ensure compliance.

– be instrumental in confirming and enhancing UBS' reputation for excellence and its culture of compliance in the field of DMP.

Your team:

You will be working in the IT, Contracting and Shared Services legal team in Switzerland. We are responsible for advising our colleagues on all legal and regulatory matters related to IT, Contracting with Suppliers, Intellectual Property, Offshoring and Outsourcing, Data Management and Protection and Real Estate. The ITCSSL Switzerland team consists of 6 lawyers and provides legal advice to all UBS business divisions in Switzerland as well as for many global initiatives.

Your experience and skills:

You have:

  • Between 2 and 6 years of relevant experience in advising relating to data protection and records retention in Switzerland. Excellent working knowledge of data protection laws in the EU.

  • ability to work on major regional and global projects and to coordinate the complex assignments with other lawyers, to lead and supervise junior staff.

  • ability to work proactively and independently to tight deadlines and take responsibility for delivering effective, pragmatic and compliant legal solutions to complex legal issues, to take and stand by decisions, to challenge where required and to present, explain, lead, influence and persuade at all levels of the bank, including its senior management.

You are:

  • a Swiss or German qualified lawyer (admitted to the bar) with strong academic record,

  • experienced in advising or working in/with major financial services organizations,

  • a hands-on team player with very strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills

  • very good in building networks and connections,

  • fluent in German and English,

  • comfortable in working in a dynamic and varied legal environment.
