UBS Financial Services Head of Americas Valuations Control Service Deliver in Weehawken, New Jersey
Do you have a collaborative, integrative and hands on leadership style? Do you have a strong understanding of valuation concepts across a broad range of cash and derivative Financial Products? Are you knowledgeable on key accounting & valuation standards like Fair value hierarchy, Prudential Valuation, IFRS and US GAAP fair value policies?
We're looking for someone to:
\tSupervise and run Americas Valuation Control Service (VCS) team which entails reviewing the valuation testing process primarily for the Bank’s on balance sheet portfolio including various securitized and structured products, equity derivatives and valuation adjustments including CVA/FVA.
\tManage a large and diverse team to facilitate the testing within the General ledger close window for the investment bank and wealth management’s assets, strategies under the credit desk and core strategies under equity business in America.
\tPresent the valuation results for senior leadership forums including Board of Director and Regional risk committee meetings.
\tCoordinate valuation issues globally for similar products and will work with other cross functions like front office quant team, Quantitative Risk Control, Market Risk Control, Global Valuation Reporting, Credit Risk Control and Product Control to attain consistency in approach/policies and resolve valuations issues.
\tAnalyze key valuation drivers and structures, waterfalls, cash flow triggers, loan origination process, liquidation process, pricing models, servicing, market trends, technical factors, collateral characteristics and government actions that impact valuation.
\tDevelop alternative pricing approaches and participate in the product research on current market conditions and trends to perform daily review of mark to market movements.
\tBuild controls and formulate policies around key valuation adjustments to develop a strong governance framework. He will engage in new business/transaction review approval, identification of key valuation issues and potential impact on business and traders for the entire Americas region.
\tReview advanced econometric & stochastic models and run Monte Carlo simulation using macroeconomic and micro-level loan data to allow projection of future defaults, prepayments, severities and other key valuation drivers.
\tManage the firm's costs by looking for efficiency in processes and in the hiring of personnel with optimal competencies. He will supervise, develop and manage performance of direct reports.
\tFollow up with changes in MTM accounting and implement accounting standards such as FAS 157, IFRS 13/9, Basle 2.5/3, Prudential Valuations FAS 166 and other conventions such as Available for Sale, Held to maturity and their practical application.

\tYou'll be working in the Valuation Control Services (VCS) Function based in Weehawken, New Jersey. VCS is one of the several functions within Group Finance and plays an important role in ensuring that the reported balance sheet values and any unrealized profit and loss due to marking-to-market (\"MTM\") of positions is at fair value and reflects the valuation principles defined by internal and external accounting policies and principles. In doing so the team employs various techniques, models, controls and systems to maximize the reliability of the fair value estimates reported by the firm.
Your experience and skills:
Your experience and skills
• 10+ years of experience in the industry with strong knowledge in vanilla and structured cash and derivative products within Equity, Credit, Securitized Products, CVA/FVA, and/or Rates/FX product classes
• Clear understanding of IPV, Valuation Adjustment, FVH, IFRS 13/Prudential valuation processes at large investment banks
• Experience working with senior leadership management on time sensitive matters.
• Strong written and verbal communicator, used to interacting with colleagues at all levels
• Expert at building networks and connections
• Known for leading by example when challenging the status quo
• Comfortable multi-tasking and working in a fast paced and complex environment
• A hands on leader, open communicator, collaborative
