UBS Financial Services Associate Director: Model Risk Management – Governance & Policy in Stamford, Connecticut
Are you passionate about keeping your firms risk management regulatory policies up to date and current? Do you have a strong background in model inventory management and governance? We are looking for someone like you to join our Governance & Policy arm of Model Risk Management and Control. Core responsibilities of this small team include:
Model Inventory Management & resource planning: GRP will manage the inventory (including interdependencies, materiality, impact on capital etc.) of quantitative models and qualitative estimation approaches used in the US. The challenges include (i) the model landscape is still in the maturing state and (ii) the teams have not been completely formed (iii) Model governance policies have not yet reached operating effectiveness.
GRP will also help in the adoption of a Strategic Workflow Tool to automate the inventory management process.
Respond to program level PMO and Senior Management MIS: In addition to manage the plan (i.e. communicate to the developers and PMOs) GRP is responsible for the preparation of presentations required Senior Management meetings.
Audit remediation: GRP is the first point of contact for audit and thereby reduce time commitment from the core model validators. It is responsible to draft initial response before validator's feedback and subsequently quality control the response to auditors. Manage the audit remediation plan.
Gap Assessment: Perform new and on-going gap assessment against current and new regulators.
Capital plan documentation: Write the sections of the Capital Plan that MRMC is responsible for. Maintain and upload all documents MRMC US is responsible for in the Capital Plan submission.
• Manage US Regulatory exams: Post CCAR submission, there is a significantly large number of meetings with the FRB to answer questions related to the Capital Plan. The intensity of these highly visible meetings is demanding.
• GRP is responsible to manage the process for those meetings where MRMC is required to participate. GRP is responsible for maintaining the tracker of FRB questions, collating the answers, having them reviewed and approved, maintaining the answers in a repository and managing the FRB meetings.
• US Regulatory response: Draft the response to FRB CCAR letter, collating feedback, incorporate comments and finalize the response.
Policies: Review and execute Group policies to assess their applicability in US
• Write US centric policies to complement Group policies (if required) (e.g. standards on Conceptual Soundness review, assessment of QEs etc.)
