UBS Financial Services Research Strategist - Emerging Markets in New York, New York
Does research interest you? Are you interested in financial modelling and basic econometric analysis? We’re looking for someone like that who can:
• Support our EM cross asset allocation team and thematic investment activities:
o Maintain, improve and help develop quantitative models employed to inform our market views, asset allocation, and thematic investing work.
o Maintain the data bases that are the input for our models and various quantitative screens and score cards.
o Monitor the different drivers of emerging market performance in a portfolio, focusing on top down equity views. These include: the macroeconomic/policy backdrop, geopolitical events, aggregate earnings trends for countries and sectors, and valuation parameters.
o Help identify key country and sector investment themes in emerging markets, both short and long term.
o Help prepare materials for presentations and publications and be a resource to support the EM team.
o Develop and maintain key relationships with sell-side and buy-side counterparts.
o Collaborate in the formulation of views with our EM teams in Asia and Europe with special emphasis on communicating our Asia views to the rest of the EM team, as well as America's based FAs and clients.
o The EM strategist will also be expected to collaborate with other areas of CIO and the Wealth Management division in an effort to discover needs and communicate our research and investment views.
o Be prepared to obtain the required regulatory licences, such as Series 7 and others.

Your experience and skills:
•Relevant academic training, including graduate school with a focus on international economics, economic development, economic policy, finance, statistics, econometrics, or financial engineering.
•Understanding of portfolio theory and familiarity with investment processes.
•1-2 years of cumulative field experience in the building and use of complex spread sheets, Bloomberg functionality, or statistical packages such as EViews , Stata, or Matlab would be plus.
•Languages: ability to read and speak Mandarin and/or Spanish a plus.
