You'll be responsible for analysing and forecasting Australian macro variables and broader economic trends and their impact on financial markets, as part of an integrated team of global Economists and Market Strategists. The environment is challenging and demanding, but exciting and dynamic in Australia's leading research business.
prepare short term and medium term economic forecasts, which are consistent with the regional and global forecasts of the rest of the economic team
prepare research analysis reports and advise on investment ideas as well as write thematic sector pieces
develop and maintain regular communication with government authorities and institutional clients and our internal sales teams
engage in economic modelling, forecasting and fiscal analysis
participate in client marketing activities, including some requirement to travel.

You'll be working within the Global Economics Research team which includes around 30 professionals around the world servicing Fixed Income and Equities clients. You'll be based in Sydney within the Australian Research business which comprises around 40 professionals, and has consistently rated as Australia’s leading team by institutional clients. You'll join a team headed by the Chief Economist, Australia & New Zealand.
Your experience and skills:
3-5 years' experience in Economics Research, Central Bank, or Government Treasury
proven ability to critically review and analyse data
appropriate degree in economics, or equivalent
highly analytical, organized and able to multitask under tight time frames
an excellent communicator, able to present recommendations and investment decisions persuasively
competent in financial modelling, investment research, analysis and evaluation
