UBS Financial Services Market Risk Officer: Equities Americas in New York, New York

Your role:

We're looking for someone to help us:

  • Analyze market risk associated within the Americas Equity Derivatives desks ranging from reviewing daily trading activity, market activity and resulting risk profiles and P&L on both a portfolio and concentration level. .

  • Analyze and approve large / complex derivative transactions (extending to New business initiatives), with potential escalation and presentation to senior management accompanied by your approval recommendations.

  • Analyze and recommend transaction approval decisions pertaining to Corporate transactions (Margin Loans, Collar Financing etc.)

  • Assist / Support the analysis and transaction approval decisions pertaining to equity blocks.

  • Daily interaction with trading in order to understand risks and market behavior, as well as bankers and management (e.g. Head of Trading, Head of market risk, etc.). Interaction is also expected with other groups (e.g. with finance in order to be able to link the revenues with the risks).

  • Ensure that the various businesses are operating within the defined risk appetite by understanding the trading limits and the respective mandates.

  • Identify deficiencies in risk capture / reporting and enhance processes accordingly, as well as contributing to global initiatives (such as developing new risk framework and policies).

Your team:

The team covers the activities of the Cash, Derivatives, Commodities, Converts, Corporate and Equity Capital Market businesses within the Americas region, and is responsible for closely monitoring the portfolio risk of these trading desks to ensure that risk exposures are appropriately diversified, that the risk profile is in line with UBS's appetite, and that non-standard risks are adequately identified, controlled and made transparent. The team is located on the trading floor.

Your experience and skills:

  • Strong Derivatives knowledge and experience with a market risk (or related) background in Equities (cross asset class coverage beneficial).

  • Understanding of key risk sensitivities and metrics (Greeks; VaR, Stress testing, etc.).

  • Skills: Quantitative / Mathematical; Confident with Strong Communication; Excellent interpersonal skills; Organized; Detail-oriented; Self-motivated; Efficient; Strong team player; Ability to prioritize well, adhere to tight deadlines and deliver under pressure.

  • Bachelor and Masters degree in a quantitative subject;

  • A deep understanding of Trading systems and risk a good working understanding of Excel / VBA would be beneficial.management infrastructure would also be very helpful, whilst
