assist in the management of the Strategic Regulatory Initiatives programme input, including leading or inputting to Compliance and Operational Risk Control (C&ORC) Working Groups and steering committee discussions as necessary
report, track and oversee potential risk, compliance and regulatory issues that may impact the operation of UBS Investment Bank in APAC.
consider potential issues and ensure they are escalated within C&ORC and appropriate actions are taken to minimise consequential risks.
attend and contribute at all relevant Working Group meetings for regulatory initiatives globally and regionally.
attend relevant industry body forums.
analyse regulatory consultation papers and new laws / regulations, providing gap analysis, input into compliance and risk issues.
plan and manage implementation of changes to the compliance and risk frameworks
provide regular milestone reporting to local, regional and global committees and forums
work as part of the IB Regulatory Initiatives team, which may include supporting colleagues on global derivatives and market infrastructure change programs, as well as other ad hoc activities that arise within the team.

C&ORC is responsible for providing independent oversight and control over the consequential risks arising from UBS’s business activities at a global, regional, divisional and entity level. The candidate will be a member of the Compliance & Operational Risk Control (C&ORC) team based in Hong Kong.
In this role, the candidate will help to coordinate the C&ORC coverage responsibility for the implementation of Group Strategic Regulatory Initiatives for in the Asia Pacific region.
In the role the candidate will be required to ensure that there is an effective risk and compliance framework in place to manage consequential risks from regulatory change initiatives, and work closely with business aligned C&ORC staff, and business area managers through the regulatory change process.
Your experience and skills:
extensive regulatory and related industry experience, ideally this will include significant experience of the Equities and/or Foreign Exchange, Rates and Credit businesses and understanding of the key challenges and developments of the global regulatory environment.
a good understanding of the regulatory environment in APAC for financial services organisations, in particular for Investment Banking.
an interest in regulatory developments and turning them into tangible actions and deliverables for the Business Aligned Compliance teams.
well-developed organisation skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) from senior executive level downwards
an ability to focus on each of the control, monitoring, education and advisory aspects of the Compliance role, and a sound balance between self-sufficiency and timely escalation of issues.
